Getting Ready for Portobello East Market
20 Nov
I recently applied, and was accepted to participate as a vendor at the Portobello East Fashion + Art Market taking place in Toronto on November 29th. So, I have been working extra hard lately (that explains why I haven’t been posting on this blog as frequently as I would like) in order to be able to bring enough products to the market.
So here are a few of the things that have been keeping me busy:
My new Monster-Bots. They are upcycled from sweaters made of wool blends, and embellished with felt made of recycled post consumer plastic bottles. All face details are embroidered on, so they are safe to play with and free of chocking hazards.

These will become tag monster softies. I am still trying to decide what to do with their faces.

This will be my first public event ever, and I have been getting a little bit more nervous with each passing day, as it dawns on me that aside from making sure that I have enough products to bring along with me, there are so many other aspects to consider. For instance, I have to consider promotional materials, packaging, shopping bags, signage, table set up, ability to accept various forms of payment, etc. Until now, I have been able to survive, somehow, without a business card. Rumour has it, however, that these little pieces of paper are a must-have when attending a market, so last night I sat down and designed my very first set of Blueberry Junkie business cards:

Cheers!!

The robots made from jumpers are gorgeous – I love the pink one :-)
I like your business card too a great mix of being professional and fun.
