I’ve put together a list of easy hoodie costumes that are quick to put together. Start off with a basic hoodie, and add some details out of felt. You can easily do this with a temporary hand stitch (recommended if you want to reuse the hoodie) or a glue gun for a super quick (and

So, in the next couple of days I will be sharing some of my favorite DIY Halloween costume ideas from around the web. To start off the Halloween spirit, today I am sharing the DIY Child Astronaut costume tutorial I used last year to make my son Phoenix’s dress-up ensemble. You will need a few items from the dollar store, empty plastic see-through soda bottles, a plastic bucket, rubber boots, white spray paint, white pants and white turtle neck t-shirt. The costume can be easily put together in under one hour….and gets

They have been into the movie “Over the Hedge” (the main character is a raccoon), and Phoenix suggested a raccoon hat. I thought that was a great idea. My only problem was the raccoon color palette of grays and blacks does not really make a great color palette for children’s items. Out the window go the grays and blacks, and in come a vibrant orange and blue. Voila, playful and colorful crocheted raccoon hat

He loves fruit and some raw vegetables, but has trouble with cooked veggies and he is big on textures…and presentation. If it doesn’t look right he declares after a quick glance “I don’t like it”. Mommy is always trying to make his food fun to entice him to eat…yes, it takes a bit of extra effort, but it is worth it. Here’s an owl I put together for him with pita bread and lots of veggies:

Cut your newly traced hat. Use the glue gun to glue the edges in place. You now have a

Simply put, a pinata is a papier-mache hollowed container that is filled with candy and small surprises. The pinata is a fun activity for children’s parties, as they get to take turns trying to brake it with a stick to get to the goodies. Of course, being a DIY person, I didn’t even bother trying to find one to buy, instead I just made one. The process of making a basic pinata is a simple, messy and
